Is shipping free?

A. For U.S. domestic orders, ground shipping is free!

For international shipping, please inquire about rates *before* placing an order using the contact form

How long will shipping take?

A. Domestic: Items are packaged and shipped within 0-3 business days via USPS or UPS ground and should be received within 2-8 business days from shipment. On the day the order is shipped, you will receive an email with tracking information. Expedited shipment is available for an additional cost.

Can I return an item?

A. All items are final sale (due to the fragile nature of these pieces, return shipping by someone unfamiliar with packaging techniques would risk breakage). Please thoroughly inspect images and product descriptions. I am happy to provide additional information or answer any questions prior to purchase using the contact formOf course, do not hesitate to contact me if there are any concerns with your order, once received, and I'll do my best to rectify the issue.

Are shipments insured?

A. All orders are shipped with insurance covering loss or damage *during transit*. To receive a refund or exchange for item(s) damaged during shipment, you will need to take pictures of the box and packaging as well as any damaged pieces and send images to info@danachiecostudio.com along with your order # and a message within 48 hours of delivery. If your order is a gift for someone, please open and inspect the package immediately upon receipt, before giving it to the recipient.

Dana Chieco Studio is not responsible in any way for stolen packages, or items not received due to shipping addresses incorrectly entered into the website. These are the store's policies, which you are agreeing to with your purchase.

Where can I view available ceramics in-person?

A. Please contact meif you would like to schedule an in-person visit to view available ceramics and/or pickup an order in Los Angeles, CA. Local purchases and pick up are eligible for a 10%+ discount. Please also see stockists for additional options to view ceramics.

Can I place a custom order?

A. Yes! If you are interested in a different size, shape, clay / glaze, custom engraving, or other customization, please contact me. Note: commissions usually take 4 - 6+ weeks for throwing, trimming, bisque and glaze firings. There are no additional fees for commissioned pieces, but depending on the size of your order, a deposit may be required.

Do you offer wholesale pricing and/or a trade discount?

A. Yes, I offer wholesale pricing for retailers as well as a generous trade discount. Please contact me for more information.

Do you loan pieces?

A. Yes! I love working with interior designers, stylists, home stagers, and architects and offer a range of tailored services such as product loans or help in sourcing specific pieces for your projects and clients.

What do you mean by “imperfections” ?

A. Everything on this site is handmade and variations or asymmetries naturally occur relating to the glaze, color, surface texture, and clay bodies. With glaze, crawling, crazing, running and bubbles are all possible and sometimes viewed as flaws. My practice is to embrace these features as contributing to the organic beauty of each piece.

I include numerous photos of each item to help you ascertain these unique qualities, prior to placing an order. Depending on the lighting and positioning of a piece, slight variations in color, textures or marks on the surface will be visible. Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information if you have any questions.

What do you mean by “decorative”?

A. If a piece is referred to as “decorative,” it is meant to be displayed and does not have a functional use such as to hold or pour water.

How do I care for my purchase?

A. Ceramics can last for thousands of years. Some of the earliest artifacts from human civilizations are clay vessels. To ensure your purchase lasts for many years, consider the fragility of your pieces and handle them with care to ensure they are not dropped, or knocked over onto hard surfaces by a curious cat or roaming toddler ;)

If a piece breaks, you can purchase glue for ceramics and attempt to repair it, or enlist the services of a local artist who practices “Kintsugi,” or Kintsukuroi, the centuries-old Japanese art of fixing broken pottery. Rather than rejoin ceramic pieces with a clear adhesive, the kintsugi technique employs a special lacquer to repair cracks with beautiful seams of gold, silver, or platinum. This method celebrates each piece’s uniqueness and history by emphasizing its fractures instead of hiding them. Repaired pieces with Kintsugi are often even more beautiful than the original.

Your purchase is an investment that should last well beyond our lifetimes!

Do you have sales?

A. Yes. Sales or discounts do not happen often but if you sign up for the newsletter, you will be the first to know! Each piece is completely unique, and I spend hours on each vessel —preparing clay, throwing, trimming, bisque fire, glazing, glaze fire (plus additional time spent cataloguing, packaging, shipping and running the business). Prices reflect this high level of time and quality.

How do I subscribe to your email list?

A. Please see bottom of page and enter your email address. I expect to send out quarterly updates (and you will not be spammed).
